Mary Carkhuff : Registered Dental Hygienist
I have been working in the dental field for over 25 years. I was originally inspired to work in dentistry by my own dentist when I was in high school. I had a lot of dental work done, and spent a lot of time sitting in "the chair." My practice had such a wonderful atmosphere that I knew I wanted to work somewhere just like that someday. Our practice here reminds me of my childhood dental practice. We all have a good time here, and we all enjoy what we do. I have developed so many meaningful friendships with my patients, and I feel like each of them have become part of my family. I am originally from Germantown, Tennessee, and recently moved to Thompson's Station. My husband, Chuck, and I have three children: Katie, Lauren, and Chuck III. We also have a Weimaraner named Aubrey. I enjoy playing tennis, reading, and walking my dog.

I was born and raised in Bakersfield, California and moved to Brentwood just after completing High School. My mother is a dental hygienist, and from watching her interact with patients, I fell in love with the dental field too. After completing an Associates of Applied Science at Columbia State Community College, I attended the Dental Hygiene Program at Tennessee State University and graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelors in Dental Hygiene. I was awarded the Dental Hygiene Directors Award, which is an instructor nominated award given to one graduating dental hygiene student who has exhibited leadership potential as demonstrated by her participation in student, departmental and community activities. When I'm not working, my husband Calvin and I love going on hikes and exploring the outdoors with our pup, Oakley. We enjoy living in Franklin and both actively participate at our church and in the community.

I grew up in Minnesota, ten minutes outside of Minneapolis ... you know, the land of 10,000 lakes. My husband and I moved to the Nashville area 25+ years ago to pursue his music, and we never left. Shortly after arriving here in Tennessee, I found myself working in the dental field... and I'm still here! We have a ten year old son, Jacob, who is working hard towards his career as a professional gamer. My hobbies include crafting, gardening, cooking, and enjoying the early morning hours on my patio. I am very involved in my church, where I serve as an Elder and member of the choir.
